Day three in NYC was absolutely incredible and certainly the highlight of my trip. I worked the red carpet and press room for the 34th Rock & Roll Hall of Fame Induction Ceremony.
The ceremony took place at the Barclays Center in Brooklyn. The arena is lovely and has a capacity of 19,000.
It was a magical moment seeing the stunning arena arranged perfectly with tables, chairs and beautiful lighting before the doors opened to the public.
It was a dream come true as I was able to see Janet Jackson get inducted into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame for her incredible body of work. I have been a Janet Jackson fan throughout her entire career as an actress and singer. I remember Janet’s acting roles from “Good Times” to Tyler Perry’s “Why Did I Get Married Too?”
When the “Control” album was released in 1986, my life changed forever. At this point, I thought I was Janet! I knew the words to every song and the choreography to every single music video. I was fifteen years old at the time and I could relate SO well to this album. I wanted to be in control of my own life and I certainly had my own mind! I was ready to make real decisions in my life (LOL). Janet inspired me to sing, dance and act as a teen. I took every class I could possibly squeeze into my day after school at a local community center.
I have amazing memories that will last me a lifetime from day three in NYC!
TIP: On your next trip to NYC. Don’t forget to visit Georgetown Cupcake at 111 Mercer Street for a sweet treat. I highly recommend the red velvet cupcake.
